So Diabetes UK have entrusted me as a judge for their upcoming Diabetes In School Short Film Competition!
Apparently I have digital prowess (you’d hope, being a digital producer and all) and I can write/make some things, plus I’ve been kicking around this type 1 world for a while now. So I’m very honoured to have been asked to join some rather more important type 1 figures to judge the short video entries.
I had more literal ups and downs than I care to recount while trying to juggle living a type 1 life in the midst of obsessing over Freddie Prince Jr, learning Destiny’s Child lyrics, basketball practice, dance classes, sleepovers, boyfriends and birthday parties. I was also the only person with type 1 diabetes at my school, so a competition like this that uses creative skills to raise awareness amongst young people is, quite frankly, right up my street. Or playground. Or school gate. Or something.
More information will be revealed on June 1st when the competition opens, but for now here’s a video that will explain it much more concisely than I could:
If you’re aged 11-17 and you’ve got an inspirational story to tell around type 1 diabetes, grab a camera and get filming!
