Seeing Diabetes Differently

It’s Diabetes Week! Which is wonderful, but also this thing is in my face errrrrr damn day so… 💁🏼‍♀️⁣

This year’s theme is #SeeDiabetesDifferently. I love it when someone asks me about my weird robot pancreas, or has questions about my insulin laden existence, because it’s a chance to raise some awareness about this funky little condition, which can be (unsurprisingly) misunderstood. I’ve lived with it for 22 years and I still don’t get it…⁣

Even though it’s a massive part of my life, I am #MoreThanT1D. Here I am, travelling the world for work and having a bloody ball, even though I do have to pack a whole extra suitcase full of supplies to keep myself alive. But I reckon that’s a pretty decent compromise to be able to do what I love and experience so much along the way… ⁣

The lovely people at Dexcom are donating £10 to the Spare A Rose charity for every #MoreThanT1D selfie you share on their Facebook page, which is epic as the charity helps children with diabetes around the world who don’t have access to the life-saving insulin I rely on each day. Head over and share your selfies and stories and let’s celebrate being #MoreThanT1D 💛
