Blog, Type 1 Diabetes

That Time I Was Live On 5 News…

June 17, 2015

Lololololol.

I was invited onto 5 News to speak as a type 1 around the fact that the prevalence of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes are on the increase. I’m always absolutely 100% for speaking up and raising awareness around any of the stuff that we face. I think it’s wonderful that more and more we’re given the chance to have our say, and it’s also something I happen to really enjoy doing.

I was interviewed alongside lovely Libby Dowling from Diabetes UK, who issued the press release to coincide with the start of Diabetes Week.

The presenter had clearly gotten excited about the very original (yawn) type 1 vs type 2 ‘debate’. Just BEHOLD the way my face so obviously drops when he persists with the issue in the final question. Oops! Thankfully I don’t think I handled the probing too badly…

Fun experience! Hope I didn’t fail the diabetes community… please feel free to tell me if so, and I’ll just quietly shut down this blog like none of it ever happened… 😉

🙂 You did super well. It was the opening credit images of jelly beans that got me ready for an eyeroll, but I think you made your points very calmly and held your own!
